The Fairytale Earth House is planned as one of the most magical accommodation spaces within the Three Sisters Farm project. Inspired by hobbit-style homes, natural building, and the feeling of being tucked into the landscape, this future retreat will offer guests a unique stay surrounded by forest, stone, plants, and quiet island nature.

Unlike a typical house, the Fairytale Earth House is designed to feel as if it belongs to the land itself. Built partly into the earth and surrounded by Mediterranean greenery, it will create a calm, sheltered, and dreamlike atmosphere — a small hidden world for those who want to slow down, rest, and reconnect with nature.

The Vision

The Fairytale Earth House is planned as a place that feels different from ordinary accommodation.

It is not only a place to sleep, but a small experience in itself — a quiet shelter in nature, shaped by earth, stone, wood, plants, and imagination. The goal is to create a space that feels peaceful, playful, and deeply connected to the surrounding landscape.

Guests will be able to wake up surrounded by greenery, enjoy the sounds of birds and forest life, walk through the farm, explore nearby trails, and experience the slower rhythm of the island.

This project is part of the wider Three Sisters Farm vision: creating nature-based stays, regenerative landscapes, and meaningful spaces where people can reconnect with land, food, animals, and silence.

The Fairytale Earth House will be designed with soft lines, natural textures, and a warm interior atmosphere. Instead of sharp modern architecture, the house will follow a more organic shape, blending into the terrain and using the landscape as part of the design. Earth, stone, timber, clay, greenery, and simple handmade details will help create a space that feels both rustic and comfortable. The idea is to keep it charming, intimate, and natural — a small Mediterranean hobbit-style hideaway where guests feel protected from the outside world.

Boatbuilding Heritage Inside the Fairytale Earth House

The design of the Fairytale Earth House will have a truly unique character, and one of its most special features will be the use of original boat ribs generously donated by the respected Pičuljan Family.

The Pičuljan Family is known as one of the finest traditional boatbuilding families on the Island of Rab, and their craftsmanship is respected far beyond the island. Their contribution brings something deeply meaningful to this project — not only as a beautiful design element, but also as a piece of local maritime heritage.

The donated boat ribs will be incorporated into the ceiling structure, creating a strong and distinctive framework above the living space. Beyond their practical role, they will carry the story of traditional island craftsmanship, the sea, wooden boats, and generations of knowledge passed down through time.

What makes this feature especially beautiful is that each rib carries its own history. As guests look up at the ceiling, they will not only see wood and structure, but a visible timeline of craftsmanship — a reminder of the years, work, skill, and dedication behind every piece.

By using these boat ribs, the Fairytale Earth House will become a fusion of natural building, contemporary retreat design, and traditional Rab boatbuilding heritage.
